Edinburgh Fringe Festival

We have just returned from a successful two week run at the Edinburgh fringe Festival with The Wendy House Trilogy.

It was also the first outing for The Wendy House and our audiences loved it. We are now working hard on our next project, more details to follow soon!

Jealous Whale Theatre is a young theatre company, led by Theatre Arts graduate Joe Allen and Student Rory Dadswell, and completed by a company of seven actors.

We have a passion for telling a story through devised and scripted immersive theatre, we don’t want our audiences to simply watch our shows we want them to feel part of them. We are inspired by classic stories and love to tell them from a new perspective.

We have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the past two years, with 'Dorothy', a dark re-telling of The Wizard of Oz. And have now developed an exciting new trilogy of shows called 'The Wendy House Trilogy'.

Each show in The Wendy House trilogy will be inspired, like 'Dorothy' by a timeless classic, and will invite people into Wendy's house to witness (and possibly contribute to) different stages of her life.

Through crowdfunding we have created our own portable immersive theatre 'Wendy House' venue which we will be taking to Edinburgh this summer.

The Wendy House

We have spent the last year building our own venue to perform in, The Wendy House! It is a completely self contained unit that is home to our immersive performances for audiences of around 30 people. However, all is not quite as it seems… We have designed The Wendy House so that it can be easily dismantled and transported to a new location, allowing us to take our shows across the country and bringing theatre to unusual locations.

This was made possible thanks to our incredible backers of our crowd funding campaign, that raised over £6000 earlier this year. The Wendy House will first land in Derby in July, as part of the DEparture Lounge festival, after which we will transport it up to Edinburgh and prepare it for it’s two week Fringe run.

Wait! There’s more!

We know how difficult it can be for a theatre company or artist to find a venue for their show, so we plan to share the Wendy House…
